Profitable Side Hustles

Money is a little tight at the moment.

Here are some profitable side hustle ideas that can make you an extra £1000 a month, and that you can start relatively easily.

Pet Sitting

This is a personal favourite of mine: pet sitting.

If you love pets, and have the ability to do so, looking after people's furry friend is a low entry barrier to make some more money.

My girlfriend and I are signed up on Rover and we've set our own prices about our day rates.

My full time is job is completely remote so I am home all day, which means that I am able to look after the pet pretty much all the time.

We signed up for free and have been making an extra £200-300 or so extra a month. We did go through a period of having 7 dog sitting requests in the space of 2 days! (these were at like £60 each!)

Rent Out Your Parking Space

If you live in a desirable city where people need to park frequently (or on the odd ocassion), be sure to rent out your parking space/driveway.

This is perfect if you live in a location that has frequent commuters OR for fans who are coming to an event within the city.

My girlfriend and I went to a Coldplay concert in June (no judging). When we went to look for car parks, all of the multi-storeys were fully booked.

We paid someone £20 to park in their driveway for the afternoon/evening.

We got 8 hours worth of parking in (practically) the city centre, and someone ended up with an extra £20 in their pocket for doing absolutely nothing!

(Fun Fact - the lady had 2 cars on her drive, meaning she doubled the income)

Child Day Care

Childcare is notoriously expensive.

Now, whilst the thought of multiple children running around my house currently drives me insane, if you find yourself being the maternal type, and maybe are a stay at home mum, perhaps you can undercut some childcare fees and house some of your friends children for a few hours.

If people could have a reliable, trustworthy option for a little cheaper, they'd bite your hand off.

Be sure to do some research into this in case you need certain requirements/qualifications, but if you're just looking after some children for a few hours, then what's the harm?

Sell your un-wanted things

We are in a society of stuff.

The more stuff we have the better.

But this isn't always true.

If you have clothes in your wardrobe that you don't wear, or toys that your children no longer play with, or items that you just don't use anymore, be sure to see if you can sell them on.

Now whilst you may not make a profit on some of them, you'll be able to generate some money.

It is important not to focus on the loss, but to focus on the extra £50 quid or so you didn't have before.

Facebook Marketplace is often a good place to start selling some things.

My girlfriend and I have managed to buy some things and sell them as they didn't work out the way we wanted.

In most cases, we made the majority of the money back (or broke even in some cases!)

Pressure Washing

I've seen countless videos online of hustler teens in USA thinking they've hacked the money system.

'All it takes is a $50 pressure washer and some flyers'.

Now whilst I think that type of content idolises a materialistic lifestyle, I do like the idea of a pressure washer.

Offer your pressure washing services to those with a big driveway or porch that could use with a touch up.

Be sure to do an excellent job as word of mouth marketing will be a big factor in your success.

You may have to give up some weekend mornings, but there is no such thing as 'free money' in the modern world.

Also, this is quite a seasonal job so great if you want to get out of the house in summer too!

Wholesaling

We all love Costco.

That's because we get to buy in bulk, and usually, at a better price.

Buying in bulk to then sell on individually is a great idea.

It does take some up front investment, but that will be recouped if you manage to sell your items.

Think about products that people will want consistently:

- Students wanting textbooks

- Office workers wanting post-it notes

- Golf players wanting golf tees

Etc, etc.

By picking the right product, you'll be able to access a tasty profit. The more expensive the item, the bigger the margins!

Digital Skills

If you have some digital skills, don't keep them to yourself!

With more people wanting to start side hustles, more people will require your services!

Be sure to setup a profile on freelancing websites, or tell your friends that you can give them a helping hand!

Fiverr or Upwork are great places to start, but be warned they are very competitive.

Be sure to research into other freelancer websites where you can get your name out there.

Easy Side Hustles to Get Started

All of these points are really easy to get started. It just takes a bit of action.

Once the ball is rolling, you'll be able to see how simple some of them are (again, I really recommend pet sitting, but stay off my turf).

Seeing that first extra bit of money outside of your salary is an eye-opening experience.

Make sure that you get to experience it!
